Inferiores e Degenerados: “raça” e futebol no Recife do início do século XX

Resumo: A partir da difusão das idéias eugênicas no futebol, iremos tentar explicar o pensamento da elite recifense e as influências das teorias racistas européias do século XIX por ela assimiladas, tendo como documentação primária os jornais da cidade, como o “Jornal Pequeno”, “A Província” e o “Diário de Pernambuco”.

Abstract: It is from the diffusion of the eugenic ideas in the football that we will try to explain the thought of the Recife´s elite and the influences of the europeans racist theories, created in the XIX century, that was assimilated for it, having as primary documentation the periodicals of the city, as the “Jornal Pequeno”, “A Província” and the “Diário de Pernambuco”.
